Atalanta have announced the appointment of Maurizio Sarri as their new head coach, taking over after the sacking of Raffaele Palladino last week.
Palladino was sacked after just six months in charge, despite leading the club to seventh in Serie A last season.
He has coached 39 matches in all competitions, winning 18, drawing 8 and losing 13, so his win percentage is 46%.
When Palladino hired the team, they were 13th in the table, and despite securing promotion to the Conference League, he was sacked.
And he has been replaced by veteran Sarri, who has agreed to mutually terminate his contract with Lazio at the end of the 2025-26 season.
Sarri, 67, coached 142 Serie A matches over two spells at Lazio, winning 66 matches (8 draws, 42 losses), averaging 1.63 points per match with the club.
However, his final season at Lazio was disappointing, with the club finishing ninth in Serie A and losing to Inter in the Coppa Italia final.
Benvenuto a Bergamo, Mr. Sari
Sarri's appointment also marks a reunion with sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli, who worked closely with Sarri at Napoli from 2015 to 2018.
The Italian has been appointed as the third permanent coach following the departure of Atalanta's Gian Piero Gasparini, and the club will be hoping to improve under Sarri's guidance.
