Kristian Thorstvedt made history when Norway took the field in their first World Cup group match against Iraq. He entered the field in the 73rd minute of the match and thus he played together with Erling Haaland and Alexander Sorloth. The three have one thing in common, their parents were all present as players in the 1994 World Cup. Haaland's father, Alfie Haaland, Soorloth's father, Goran Soorloth, and Thorstvedt's father, Erik Thorstvedt, all played for Norway in the 1994 World Cup. It was the first World Cup for Norway since 1938, the team included Goran Sorloth who was then a player in the German Bundesliga and played as a forward for Norway like his father. Haaland, Sørloth and Thorstvedt have now led Norway in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. All three played in Norway's opening match against Iraq at the 2026 World Cup and the three combined to contribute to all 5 goals. Alexander Sorloth scored 2 goals, Erik Thorstvedt scored 1 goal and Erling Haaland scored 2 goals.
