Houston's Spencer Arigati injury: Another bad news.
Houston Astros pitcher Spencer Arigati has suffered an injury, which is a concern for the team.
For Astros’ Spencer Arrighetti, a midseason spiral gets a painful new development - The Athletic.

CHICAGO— With 10 days to go before the MLB trade deadline (Aug. 3), the Houston Astros' rotation, which has been suffering from a lack of depth, looks a worrisome sight. Spencer Arigetti called an athletic trainer from the dugout before the start of the second inning. He chatted briefly with the trainer before entering the Chicago White Sox field (Rett Field) and then walked off the field. The incident comes at a very confusing time for Arrighetti, which has been going on for the past two months. "I was having pain in my right foot almost every pitch," Arigetti said of the injury that led him to the field. In the first innings he made 33 pitches and faced 5 batters with no outs against 3 runs through hits, balls and walks. "I injured a nerve between the third and fourth toe while warming up before the game and I thought I could play with the discomfort," he said. "I've never felt anything like today (Friday). I've got some pressure on a nerve in my leg, or some kind of inflammation. I think I aggravated it (the nerve injury) a little bit towards the end of the warm-up," he added. Arigetti didn't do well in Friday's game and was substituted at the end of the inning. That's bad news for the Astros, as all the relief pitchers who pitched the game in Friday night's 9-5 win were told before the game that an extra pitcher would be added for Sunday's game. If Arrighetti's injury turns out to be serious, he could be sent to the Injured List (IL). But Arrighetti has spoken as though he won't be out for long. "The Chicago team doctor saw me in one spot where I got hurt and he wasn't too concerned about it," he said. "I don't think it (the nerve injury) will keep me out for long," Arrighetti added. Arrighetti's injury is now a concern for his rotation spot. Prior to Friday's game, Arrighetti had a record 7.88 ERA in 8 innings. A spot in the rotation for a right-handed pitcher like Arrigeti wasn't safe before Friday's game. Arrietti's performance has been a concern over the last two months, adding to the uncertainty in the Astros' rotation spots. He was named the league's Pitcher of the Month last May for his stellar performance. But his performance since May has been extremely poor.

What will happen next?

The team's medical staff will hold talks to review Arrighetti's injury situation and determine his next step. If his injury is serious, the Astros may have to look for a replacement pitcher, which will affect their plans at the trade deadline.
