NEC bids a final farewell to Danilo. The 27-year-old forward has been missing for the past six months. NEC had an option to buy, but that expired on Wednesday. Danilo is now returning to Rangers FC. NEC turned their attention to Danilo as a new forward in last winter's transfer window following the sale of Kento Shiogai. Previous clubs include Ajax, FC Twente and Feyenoord. His career in Scotland had stagnated and he wanted to return to the Netherlands. His contribution to NEC was limited after scoring just one goal in 12 matches. Still, the NEC was long skeptical about implementing the option. The club have already appointed free transfer Kai Sierhuis as their new forward. At the same time, Youssef El Kachaty moved to Stade Reims. Coach Dick Schrueder is now working with two forwards in Brian Linsen and Koki Ogawa. Danilo is now heading back to Rangers, where he still has two years left on his contract. In 2023, the Scottish club paid Feyenoord around €6 million to sign Danilo.
