Dick Schroeder has no plans to leave the NEC this season. Schröder announced after the first training session on Wednesday that he would remain at the NEC, on the advice of the club's general director Wilco van Schaik. Van Schaik previously said during NEC's special Fourdogsshirt launch that Schröder is '100 per cent certain' he is staying at the club. Schröder himself reaffirmed this on Wednesday. He said, 'I have an ongoing contract. If all goes well, there may be interest from the coach, but there was never an option for me to take another chance.' Schröder admits that there is no such thing as 100 per cent certainty in football, but he thinks, 'I have already made up my mind. I am very excited to take on this challenge with NEC, especially with the European campaign. This is going to be a big challenge for the club. For many it is the first time and we have seen at other clubs that are not used to this type of situation, how to handle it.'
