Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) ended the first half trailing 2-0 in their French Ligue 1 match against Rennes. Meanwhile, coach Luis Enrique made one change to his team. He replaces Ousmane Dembele, a winger known for scoring, with Faran Torres. Torres scored twice on his Ligue 1 debut to draw the match 2–2. Coach Luis Enrique told the press conference after the match, "What can I say, thanks to him for coming on as a substitute and scoring two goals. I know he's a great player, he's a World Cup-winning player. But it was not in my hands whether I could get him in the team or not. The club's plan was to bring in a player like that who can make an impact in important games like this." He also said, "Now it's a lot harder to get spots (positions) in the team. More competition than last year. We want to find the best players every game. I think we had a great transfer window this year, and we still have some options open." PSG have signed several important players in the transfer market this year, such as: Ousmane Dembele, Shoiello, Renan Lodi, and Lucas Hernandez.

Luis Enrique said this day, "Those who come on the field as a substitute or who prove themselves, will get another chance in the next matches. But for those who have questions, it will be very difficult to get another chance in the future." Meanwhile, when asked whether Luis Enrique will make changes in the coming matches in the same way he did in the match against Rennes, he said, "I know it's a big question for journalists, and there will be a lot of discussion about it. But I want them to prove themselves the way I used the players as substitutes." And he also said, "I don't want, if what I have planned, if it doesn't work well on the field, then why would I go on the field with the same plan. I have to change, I have to be different." In addition to its match against Rennes in the league, another league match took place last Saturday, where PSG won by a resounding 5-0 margin. Now comes a tough test for PSG next Wednesday, when they face Newcastle United. PSG will go to Newcastle in England for the group stage match of the European Championship (UEFA Champions League).

What will happen next?

Now it will be important for PSG to ensure the development of their players and the best performance in the match.
