Barcelona's former La Masia player Iker Almena (22) has revealed the reason behind his exit from Barcelona at the age of 13. He claimed that he had to leave the club due to a clash with one of the club's coaches. "I didn't even wait to finish the season," Almena said. He detailed this in a podcast aired on YouTube yesterday (Tuesday). Almena said, "It was a complicated situation. I left before the end of the season, with 6 or 7 games left. But I had some problems with one of the coaches there. I was told, 'You can't stay here'. And I wanted to leave. It wasn't about getting more or less playing time. I was happy there, but it was a situation where I couldn't stay there anymore. I didn't even wait to finish the season." Almena added, "It was an external situation, beyond my control. There was a discussion, which did not end well. And that was it. It was a matter of a certain time, a certain day, where something happened, which was not acceptable for my family and me. And they took it for granted. But it was a certain time." Almena joined Barcelona at the age of 7 and spent 6 seasons at the club. After leaving the club he joined Espanyol and later Girona.
