The New York Times criticized Ibrahimovic in this way, saying, "The show that Ibrahimovic was accepted for in America is now in decline". The commentary was more harshly criticized in an article published in the New York Times sports section, written by Adrian Lyall. The article states, "Becoming a commentator was a risk for Zlatan Ibrahimovic. When Tom Brady made his first career television appearance, he took a full season to master the role. But Zlatan knows nothing about football, especially the many players selected for this World Cup and their clubs".
