Eberechi Eze has confirmed that he is ready to take penalties for England, despite his woeful experience of the shootout in the Champions League final. Eze, along with Gabriel Magalhas, missed their shots in a 4-3 penalty shootout defeat against Paris Saint-Germain. Arsenal had to take the responsibility of being the only team to miss the goal frame twice from 12 yards in the Champions League final when the goal was 1-1 in normal time. Eze said, "If the call comes, of course. Why wouldn't I take it? Football always gives something new, and you have to learn to accept everything as it is and enjoy it. Playing in the Champions League final is my dream, that's what I want to do. We'll try again next season and if the opportunity comes to take a penalty, I'll be there again." Despite failing to achieve Champions League glory, Eze helped Arsenal end a 22-year wait for the Premier League title in his first season. He contributed 15 goals (10 goals, 5 assists) in 52 matches in all competitions, the fifth highest in Mikel Arteta's squad. The likes of Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Morgan Rodgers, Ollie Watkins and Mark Guhi are among Thomas Tuchel's 26-man squad that won the title last season, and Eze believes that will be helpful for England's World Cup campaign. Eze added, "It's important for a player's confidence, that you've experienced something. It gives you a different level of confidence and having a lot of players have that experience will help us. Every year you get more experienced and you have different things that are important. Winning gives you confidence, a confidence that you can do anything. We'll all use that." England open their Group L campaign against Croatia at the Dallas Stadium on Thursday.
