Dutch football club AZ has started preparations for the new season with a slightly smaller squad. They took to the training ground for the first time on Monday and were without Maxim Dekker, Mayckel Lahdo, Zico Buurmeester, Ibrahim Sadiq and Lequincio Zeefuik. The future prospects of these five players are slim and they will be looking for new clubs.
AZ are planning to increase the depth of their squad this summer and this has had an impact for some players. Dekker and Sadiq got less playing time last season, while Lahdo (Brøndby), Buurmeester (PEC Zwolle) and Zeefuik (Heracles Almelo) already played on the sidelines. These five players will now be able to find new clubs and therefore did not attend the first training session. Dekker and Zeefuik's contracts run until 2029, Buurmeester and Sadiq's contracts for two more years and Lahdo's contracts expire next year.
