Fiorentina director Fabio Paratici continues to work with former club Tottenham Hotspur to sign Italy international Destinee Udogi. In this case, Matteo Ruggeri of Atletico Madrid is being considered as an alternative. Paratici has had two stints at Tottenham and most recently returned to Fiorentina in February. He is using some contacts to boost the team's strength at the Stadio Artemio Franchi and has eyed Udogi. The 23-year-old Italy international has struggled with injuries and a lack of regularity since joining Tottenham from Udinese in 2022. At the time the contract was worth 18 million euros, which could increase by another 7 million euros in bonuses. According to reports from Tuttomercatoweb, this deal is going to be very difficult to complete, as Tottenham are demanding €40-50 million for the left-back. Coach Roberto de Zerbi is not willing to let Udogi go this summer, even though he has made just 28 appearances this season and made one assist. Paratici is hoping he can convince Tottenham to agree a loan deal, with certain targets to be met. A cheaper option is another Italy international, Matteo Ruggeri, who Atletico Madrid are likely to want to sell for €25 million. Ruggeri was bought from Atalanta last year with a €17m bonus.
