Colombia defeated Uzbekistan 3-1 in the opening match of the World Cup 2026 held on Thursday (May 18). Luis Diaz, Facundo Tabanno and Henry Martin scored in this match.
In the 33rd minute of the match, Luis Diaz put Colombia ahead with a great right-footed shot from more than half of the D-box.
Facundo Tabanno succeeded in scoring from a corner kick in the 63rd minute of the second half. After a 3-0 lead, Uzbekistan tried to get back into the match with a goal in the 83rd minute. However, Henry Martin scored a penalty in the 90th minute to ensure victory.
Uzbekistan has never played in the World Cup before.
