After Egypt and Argentina reach the next round — and they will face each other — the Colombia vs. Ghana match determines the final spot for the last 16. The right to fight against Switzerland had to be secured for Los Cafeteros. 13 minutes into the match, one injury problem arose for each team. Substitute Luis Suarez created the gap for John Arias' goal for Colombia (14). Colombia failed to extend their lead in the first half as Ghanaian goalkeeper Ati Ziggy made a superb save. Carlos Queiroz's Ghana never lost faith. But they didn't really threaten. Colombia had a goal disallowed and missed a good chance. They didn't perform to the best of their abilities, but they moved on to the next phase. It was their second knockout match win at the World Cup — after a 2-0 victory over Uruguay in 2014. With nine teams in the last 32, African football is now down to Morocco and Egypt.
